PDO thread lifting is a non-surgical cosmetic procedure that uses dissolvable threads made of polydioxanone (PDO), similar to surgical sutures, to lift and tighten the skin on the face, neck and body.
PDO thread lifting can be used to treat multiple areas on the face, neck, and body, including the nasolabial fold, marionettes, jowls, jawline, neck, and body.
Usually the procedure take between 60 to 75 minutes, depending on the number of threads needed.
Typically, thread lifting results are expected to lasts 12-18 months, but this is variable from person to person. It depends on many factors such as skin type and lifestyle.
At our office we use numbing injection at the site of treatment, which helps to make the procedure as comfortable as possible.
Most patients are able to resume their normal activities within a day or two after PDO thread lifting treatment. However, it is best to avoid heavy physical exertion and lifting for at least a week. The recovery period is generally quick with minimal pain that can be managed with over-the-counter medication if necessary.
Side effects with thread lifting are rare, but, as with any procedure, there are some potential side effects. The most common side effects include swelling, bruising, and pain at the site of the injections, which typically resolve on their own within a few days.
